A responsible member of the business community
At Reico Kitchen & Bath we recognize that our responsibility is not only to our people and our customers. It reaches beyond that as a responsible member of the business community both locally and globally. Some examples of this include:
- Recycling:
- Building Materials. We recycle all building materials that no longer can be used. This includes cabinets, moldings and accessories. This material is taken to local "Waste to Energy" plant for burning, which produces steam used to generate electricity. On average Reico Kitchen & Bath recycles 135 tons of this material each year.
- Cardboard, office paper, metal cans, metal good and plastic bottles are recycled at all locations. On average, Reico Kitchen & Bath recycles 70 tons of this material each year.
- Appliances. Reico Kitchen & Bath recycles old appliances from customers, at least 80 on average each year.
- Local donations to reuse companies such as The Loading Dock and Habitat for Humanity.
- Working partnerships with local professionals and manufacturers to minimize our eco-footprint.
- Fuel-efficient trucking fleet to minimize impact on environment by utilitizing the latest emissions reduction technologies. Our trucks are equipped diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) systems that both burn and absorb exhaust, eliminating toxic emissions in engines after combustion.
- Cheetah truck routing system and GPS for efficient routing that lowers fuel consumption and miles driven.
- Energy-efficient warehouse lighting that is sensor based, using fluorescent bulbs to reduce energy usage by 40%, or roughly 200,000 kilowatts per year.
- Supporting our military community through our Reico Military Discount program and when possible through design, cabinets and appliances support for Wounded Warrior, Helping a Hero and other local projects.
- Regular partner of the St. Jude Dream Home program with StyleCraft Homes and the St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital in the Greater Richmond area.
- Donating computers to Project ReBoot, a computer recycling program for underprivileged and disabled individuals and families.
- Annual donations to local Salvation Army Holiday Toy Drive (Metro DC) and Toys for Tots (Baltimore) organizations.
- Donations and support for Hopecam, a not for profit charity dedicated to overcoming the social isolation experienced by children in treatment for cancer.
- Working partnerships with nationally recognized industry partners such as NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) and NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry).
We are proud of our local partnerships and community support. While we are not able to support every opportunity that presents itself today, we continue to work on new ways we can contribute to being a more responsible business.
