The 3 phases to a kitchen remodeling project
Your head is filled with ideas from websites, TV shows, design magazines and more. So what is the next step to bring your kitchen remodeling ideas to life?
There are typically 3 phases to your kitchen remodeling project:
- Information Gathering, Design & Pricing
- Ordering, Scheduling & Permits
- Construction, Installation & Project Completion
While the number of phases is low, you will find that there are a number of decisions to make in each.
Consider your cabinets. It's not just a door style that you like, it's also the wood species and the finish...maybe even two finishes if you want a kitchen island in a contrasting color (Need help? Read Cabinet Basics - What You Need To Know).
Same for appliances, as you consider choices for dishwasher, range, refrigerator, microwave and more in the kitchen. At least the finish will be the same. Countertops, sinks, hardware, fixtures, tile backsplashes, flooring...we could go on! And we do!
On average, the entire process can take as little as 6 months or as long as 18-24 months, depending on the scope of your project and just how ambitious your ideas or plans are. Let's take a look at the first of the 3 phases.
