Nancy Knickerbocker
Designer
Southern Pines, NC
The journey to become a designer takes many paths, and Nancy Knickerbocker’s path is a story all her own. That path started in Alabama, where she graduated from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama with a B.A. degree in Communications. During that time, Nancy had many hours of study in the areas of art and design, an early indication of her interest.
As an Air Force wife, the path took some worldly turns, including time in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The path expanded as well to include 2 sons. While raising her children, she became a “professional volunteer” (like many of us do), dedicating her time, efforts and talents to school activities, Boy Scouts, you name it. Today, both sons are Virginia Tech grads and Air Force Officers.
Nancy returned to the work force after her sons’ went off to college. Having worked in the furniture industry for several years, she turned her path towards kitchen and bath design in 2011. Recently, Nancy completed certification requirements for CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist). Aging in place means people don’t need to move from their homes in order to accommodate their changing needs.
When not designing kitchens and baths, Nancy enjoys golfing with her husband (now retired Air Force), home projects and following her favorite sports teams.
